With two free concerts by the Ibero-American Orchestra and various other activities, the Center for Foreign Language Teaching (CEPE) at the Taxco campus of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) will inaugurate its cultural agenda and launch its 2026 program this Friday evening, announced Rommel Antonio Scorza Gaxiola, director of the university center located in the historic former Hacienda of “El Chorrillo.”

The UNAM official explained that the activities, designed and organized for diverse audiences, will take place over two days (Friday and Saturday). Emblematic Taxco buildings such as the Parish of Santa Prisca and San Sebastián and the former Hacienda of “El Chorrillo” will host the Ibero-American Orchestra, under the direction of Lizzi Ceniceros, and comprised of highly skilled musicians.

Scorza Gaxiola mentioned that this Friday at 8:00 p.m. inside the religious site, a program of Baroque music will take place, where the sounds and artistic performances will converse with the architecture and historical resonance of the temple built in the heart of Taxco. “This presentation will offer the attending community a profound sonic experience in one of the city’s most representative heritage spaces.”

He said that the following day, Saturday at 1:00 p.m., the former Hacienda of “El Chorrillo” will host a free concert of video game music designed for families, children, and teenagers. Its main objective is to introduce new audiences to orchestral music through a contemporary repertoire accessible to all ages, as the group works to strengthen audience development.

He acknowledged that the Ibero-American Orchestra has represented Mexico in various national forums and has performed at prestigious venues such as the Palace of Fine Arts, the Vasconcelos Library, and the National Museum of Anthropology, in addition to its participation in cultural initiatives with significant social impact. “Both concerts will be free of charge and are part of the cultural activities that UNAM carries out and promotes in Taxco through CEPE,” he said.

The academic, Rommel Antonio Scorza Gaxiola, reiterated the commitment of the country’s leading university to providing access to high-quality artistic experiences and to strengthening the cultural life of the region.
