The economy of San Luis Potosí was the third fastest growing in Mexico at the close of the third quarter of 2025, according to data from the Quarterly Indicator of State Economic Activity (ITAEE) of the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI). How much did the economy of San Luis Potosí grow?
According to the corresponding results, the ITAEE reveals that while some states are consolidating their productive dynamism, others are facing adjustments and slowdowns.
Likewise, the analysis, with seasonally adjusted and original figures, allows us to identify the states with the greatest growth in their economic activity, as well as the sectors driving their performance.
In the case of San Luis Potosí, the economic barometer shows significant growth in key sectors that are currently expanding in the region.
In this regard, Aguascalientes, Colima, Durango, Guanajuato, Jalisco, Nayarit, San Luis Potosí, and Zacatecas, which make up the north-central region, represented 19.2% of the national total and contributed 0.24 percentage points to the national variation:

At the Bajío level, San Luis Potosí consolidates its economic leadership, ranking as the state with the highest economic growth among those that comprise the region:

Meanwhile, it surpasses Jalisco, which achieved economic growth annual growth of just 1.5%, and Nuevo León, which registered a contraction of -1.4%.
In the third quarter of 2025, San Luis Potosí’s economic activity showed annual growth of 3.7 percent, driven primarily by primary sector activities.
Likewise, on a quarterly basis, through September 2025, San Luis Potosí’s economy grew by 2.6%. With both figures, San Luis Potosí ranks as the third fastest-growing state in Mexico.

According to the trend indicator, the state of San Luis Potosí is consolidating its position as an economic powerhouse as a result of its growth policies.
Furthermore, this reflects the promotion of Foreign Direct Investment and the modernization of infrastructure, thereby raising its economic competitiveness levels.
According to INEGI, primary activities led the quarterly economic growth in San Luis Potosí, registering an increase of 26.3%:
Primary: 26.3%
Secondary: 5.3%
Tertiary: -0.1%
However, on an annual basis, from January to September 2025, these activities led the growth of the San Luis Potosí economy:
Primary: 3.4%
Secondary: 4.6%
Tertiary: 0.3%
In the quarter under review, secondary activities contributed 2.6 percentage points to the state’s total growth.
Similarly, in the first nine months of the year, secondary activities were the largest contributor to the overall growth.
