The award he received is called the Global Focus Project, a prize presented by the Xposure Festival with the support of the Emirati government.

“I am very honored to receive this award presented by the Xposure Festival through the government of the United Arab Emirates.”

This recognition distinguishes one male and one female photographer from each continent. In this edition, Márquez was selected as the male representative for North America, which he described as an honor not only personally, but also collectively.

His photographic project, “Without Ithaca Awaiting,” is a visual investigation that has taken him several years to document migration.

“It is a project documenting migration through Mexico, from the south of the country to the north.”

The exhibition is part of one of the most important photography festivals globally, which brings together 95 exhibitions by international photographers.

The event was inaugurated by Sultan Bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, who toured the photographic exhibition.

The official awards ceremony will take place this Saturday in Sharjah, a city located just minutes from Dubai.

Félix Márquez emphasized that he is the only Mexican participating in the festival program.

“I represent not only North America, but also my colleagues from Mexico and Veracruz.”

In addition to the recognition, he noted that his participation aims to strengthen the “Mirar Distinto” International Festival of Photojournalism and Documentary Photography, held in Veracruz.
