Luis Humberto Montaño, a friend and former collaborator of Senator Adán Augusto López—who resigned this Sunday as coordinator of the Morena party’s congressional bloc—became a prolific supplier of patrol vehicles to the government of Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla in Michoacán, a state plagued by organized crime.

Montaño has held the positions of chairman of the board and CEO of Lumo Financiera del Centro, a company that has earned billions of pesos leasing vehicles to the governments of the so-called Fourth Transformation.

In Michoacán, he earned over 140 million pesos from leasing vehicles to public officials and selling marked and equipped patrol cars between 2022 and 2024.

He is a businessman and former PRI politician who supported Morena candidates in 2024 and is now promoting his image on social media with the backing of the Green Party, targeting residents of Atizapán de Zaragoza in the State of Mexico, where mayoral elections will be held in 2027.

Latinus has documented that Lumo Financiera del Centro and Lease & Fleet Solutions, car leasing companies in which Montaño has been a partner and legal representative, received approximately 8 billion pesos in contracts from the federal and Mexico City governments between 2019 and 2023.
