Remitly: the average exchange rate is 17.37 pesos, delivering 6,948 pesos.
Xoom: the average exchange rate is 17.57 pesos, delivering 6,936.46 pesos for a $400 transfer.
Which one delivers the least amount?
In contrast, Ria Money Transfer was the money transfer company that provided the least amount in this modality, delivering 6,645.63 pesos, a difference of up to 417 pesos compared to the best option.
Regarding cash transfers, the Profeco comparison showed that Pangea Money Transfer was the company that delivered the most money, with 7,072 pesos for a $400 transfer.
Conversely, Wells Fargo was the least favorable option in this modality, delivering 6,678.30 pesos. Profeco emphasized that this exercise is conducted weekly so that migrants and their families can compare remittance companies, reduce costs, and avoid losing money on high fees or unfavorable exchange rates.
The recommendation is clear: before sending remittances, checking official comparisons can help ensure more money reaches households in Mexico.
