The 2026 carnival season in Yucatan is shaping up to be one of the most intense, long, and ambitious in recent years.
Mérida, Kanasín and Progreso, considered the three most relevant carnival poles in the state, presented complete billboards that combine tradition, modernity, music, regional comedy and the presence of figures from the national show, which makes February the month of greatest cultural and tourist activity in the state.
In the case of Mérida, Carnival 2026 will take place under the theme “Circo Carnaval“, a visual and artistic proposal that is committed to fantasy, color and family entertainment.
The activities will begin on February 7 with the coronation of the Kings of Carnival, while the central events will be held from February 11 to 18 in Ciudad Carnaval, located at the Xmatkuil fairgrounds. As tradition dictates, the Burning of the Bad Mood will officially give way to the party, followed by days full of parades, shows and free concerts.
The fashion shows will be one of the main attractions, with the participation of guest artists on each day. The Viernes de Corso, scheduled for February 12, will feature the presence of Aldo De Nigris and El Abelito.
On Fantasy Saturday, on February 13, Ninel Conde and Julián Gil will parade. For Bachata Sunday, February 14, the participation of Galilea Montijo, Emmanuel Palomares and Isaac Moreno is expected.
Regional Monday, February 15, will be headed by Marlene Favela, while Battle of Flowers Tuesday, February 16, will close with figures such as Esmeralda Ugalde and Sergio Mayer Mori.
Throughout the days, the parades will be accompanied by comparsas, batucadas and allegorical floats, in addition to the constant participation of groups such as Los Wapayasos, who will animate different moments of the carnival.
The billboard of Mérida also includes regional comedy presentations and cultural shows that seek to reinforce the Yucatecan identity.
Characters such as Doña Chela, Chepita Kakatúa, Ruperta, Dzereco and Nohoch will be part of the comedy nights, while the musical concerts will be distributed in different stages of Carnival City, maintaining the free and familiar character that distinguishes this celebration.
INNOVATION WITH ELEMENTALIA
For its part, the Kanasín Carnival 2026 will be held from February 10 to 18 under the slogan “Elementalia, the Carnival that Unites Yucatan “, with a proposal that combines mass parades, popular concerts and the presence of actors, influencers and musicians who have gained popularity on social networks and television.
The main parades will be concentrated from February 14 to 17, days in which a high influx of visitors from different parts of the metropolitan area is expected.
On Saturday, February 14, the parade will feature the participation of Aldo De Nigris and El Abelito, while at night groups such as Junior Klan and Mega Boom will perform.
Sunday, February 15 will be one of the strongest days, with the presence of Cry, Marlene Favela and David Zepeda on the tour, followed by concerts by Los Súper Caracoles and Cleyver y su Nueva Imagen.
On Monday, February 16, the party will continue with musical shows by Flash Gordon and “La Explosiva Banda R15”.
Finally, on Tuesday, February 17, the carnival will close with figures such as Livia Brito, Kim Shantal and Aarón Mercury, as well as musical presentations by “Los Súper Lamas” and “Capitanes de la Cumbia”, consolidating Kanasín as one of the most popular and popular carnivals in the state.
“THE JOY OF LIFE”
On the Yucatecan coast, the Carnival of Progreso 2026 will be held from February 5 to 18 under the slogan “The Joy of Life”, with a program that takes advantage of the boardwalk and the open spaces of the port to offer massive shows in front of the sea.
The party will begin on February 5 with the Burning of Bad Humor and will continue with parades and cultural activities for almost two weeks.
One of the most anticipated moments will be the coronation of the Kings of Carnival, scheduled for Saturday, February 7, an event that will be accompanied by the concert of Los Ángeles Azules with Ximena Sariñana, marking a beginning of high musical level.
On Sunday, February 15, the boardwalk will vibrate with the presentation of La Original Banda “El Limón”, while the closing of the carnival, during the Tuesday of the Battle of Flowers, will be in charge of the duet Ha*Ash, who will put the finishing touch to the celebration with a concert that is expected to be multitudinous.
Throughout the days, guest artists such as Brigitte Bozzo, Jorge Loza and Kim Flores will also participate, joining the tours and activities of the port.
