This past weekend, Puebla hosted a celebration of Mexico’s ancient culinary culture and traditions with the #los250MX event; an annual celebration that recognizes the 250 most prominent chefs in the Mexican culinary scene. This was its twelfth edition.
The event began on January 31st and will conclude on February 2nd with master classes and the presence of some of the country’s most renowned chefs.
During Sunday’s luncheon, the more than two thousand attendees enjoyed an authentically Poblano menu, featuring tlayoyos, cemitas, and mole, showcasing the diverse culinary traditions of the state.
During the awards ceremony, Olga Sánchez was awarded the Mexican Culinary Medal for best organizational contribution to the gala.
“The connection that allowed this Mexican culinary event to take place in Puebla for its inaugural edition truly wouldn’t have been possible without the combined efforts of the state government, of Governor Alejandro Armenta, who from the very beginning said: ‘I’m committed to this event, especially because we have so much to be proud of in the culinary world.’”
Another chef honored with the Ricardo Muñoz Zurita Medal, a culinary award, for promoting her state was Rosalba Morales, who has created groundbreaking dishes using fish.
“I come from an indigenous community, San Jerónimo Purechuecaro, where I started cooking as a child, learning from my grandmother, my aunts, and my community, especially my mother. And what do I cook? My roots, what’s in my heart, and what I was taught as a child.”
The event drew over 2,000 talented attendees dedicated to the culinary arts, and a tailor-made event was organized in Puebla.
Featuring nationally and internationally renowned figures, Los250mx brings together the very best of Mexican cuisine in one place. Additionally, booths representing the Pueblos Mágicos (Magical Towns) showcased local crafts to welcome attendees. The twelfth edition was a resounding success that will have positive implications for the state.
