On the night of Tuesday, February 3, six tourists, including a woman and a 9-year-old girl, were reported missing. They had decided to spend their vacation in the port city of Mazatlán, Sinaloa.

After receiving the report, the Public Security Secretariat confirmed that an operation was immediately launched, which led to the woman and the girl being found alive in the town of El Habal. However, the whereabouts of the other four victims remain unknown.

The missing tourists in Mazatlán have been identified.
Although the exact date the six people arrived in Sinaloa is unknown, it has been reported that they rented two off-road vehicles (Razer-type vehicles) in the Golden Zone on Tuesday.

Hours later, the off-road vehicles were found in Cerritos, north of the city. At that time, the disappearance of four men and two women was reported to 911. The women were found safe and sound the following day.

At this time, there is still no trace of:

Óscar “G”, 30 years old.

Omar Alexis “R”, 30 years old.

Javier “R”, 25 years old.

Gregorio “R”, 18 years old.

Meanwhile, Monserrat, 28 years old, and Dana, 9 years old, underwent medical evaluations and gave their statements to clarify the events of that Tuesday.

Initially, it was reported that the abducted tourists were from Ixtlahuaca, in the State of Mexico (Edomex). However, local media dismissed this version and indicated that the six were traveling from Mexico City (CDMX) with the intention of spending a few days in the tourist area of Mazatlán.

The Interinstitutional Group will continue its investigation to locate the four men as soon as possible, as well as to establish the reasons behind the abduction.

It is worth remembering that this kidnapping occurs just days before the start of the Mazatlán Carnival, which highlights what is no secret to anyone: the wave of disappearances and violence plaguing the state, forcing authorities to take extreme security measures for visitors.
