With the 2026 Conurbated Carnival, an increase in hotel occupancy is expected in southern Tamaulipas, which will offer discounts ranging from 5 to 25 percent on its rates.
This was reported by Jorge Marón Ceja, president of the Hotel Association of southern Tamaulipas, who indicated that this is the second consecutive year the carnival has been held conurbated, which puts them in a different position. He added that they appreciate the efforts of the three mayors of Tampico, Madero, and Altamira, as well as the State Secretary of Tourism, in promoting and publicizing this event.
“The 2026 Conurbated Carnival will be a festive atmosphere of music, color, and gastronomy, and we hope that people will take notice of us. If they know of other destinations or carnivals, we hope they will come and visit us. We are very happy and hopeful that they will visit us.” He mentioned that this is the second year the event has been held in a conurbation and they are currently in the promotional phase, so it would be premature to say what percentage increase in occupancy they expect.
“But if it generates occupancy, we’ll definitely see some benefit. The carnival is definitely something for the community, but that’s what they’ve been aiming for with all this promotion: to attract visitors from other cities in our state and from other states so they can enjoy this carnival.”
He indicated that they generally receive visitors from Monterrey, the Huasteca region, northern Veracruz, Ciudad Valles, San Luis Potosí, and nearby areas that don’t have this type of event.
“Currently, we have 2,800 rooms in southern Tamaulipas, across 34 hotels.”
He stated that this Carnival reflects what they are as a region: a vibrant, joyful, and hardworking conurbation where Tampico, Ciudad Madero, and Altamira come together to offer a unique experience during these days. “We extend a very clear and open invitation to families from southern Tamaulipas, our neighbors from other municipalities in the state, and visitors from other cities across the country to come and join in this grand celebration of color and fun: the 2026 Conurbated Carnival. It’s an experience to be lived, felt, and enjoyed. It’s a space for family gatherings, joy, culture, and fun, where our visitors can enjoy not only the Carnival but also our cuisine, our beaches, our hotels, and above all, our hospitality.”
He stated that they are ready to welcome visitors and that, with the Carnival Code, the 34 hotels that make up the association will be offering discounts.
“Discounts ranging from 5 to 25% off our rates so that those who come specifically to have fun and stay with us receive this benefit; that is, upon arrival or when calling the hotels or receptions, simply mentioning the Carnival Code will apply these discounts.”
