Rodrigo Monsalvo pointed out that the main point of analysis for the City Council is the impact that the station would have on mobility

The municipal president of El MarquésRodrigo Monsalvo Castelán, reported that the next station of the Mexico-Querétaro Train, planned for the community of Jesús María, within the area of the Municipal Service Center (CAM), will involve the realization of adaptations in terms of mobility and infrastructure.

The mayor of Marqués explained that the information available so far indicates that the station would be located on a property near the CAM facilities, in an area adjacent to the National Guard base and in the vicinity of an educational campus.

In this regard, Monsalvo Castelán said that, according to what was communicated by the federal authorities, the project contemplates a change with respect to the location originally proposed, which no longer considers the area of Los Héroes, but in the community of Jesús María.

El Cerrito bridge will be expanded with two more tracks for the passage of the train

The municipal president pointed out that the main point of analysis for the city council is the impact that the station would have on mobility in the area, particularly in the section that connects the road to Jesús María with the CAM and the area of La Piedad, where high vehicular flows are reported.

“We see ourselves as very viable, as I have mentioned repeatedly, that part is the most complicated in traffic, it is the most difficult area, La Piedad. If they go from the road to Jesús María to the CAM, at rush hour, it takes almost an hour, and if so, hopefully it will come with the adaptations because, I insist, not even the accesses are municipal.”

He explained that, at times of greatest influx, travel times in that corridor can be considerably extended, which makes it necessary to foresee additional road interventions in case the project advances in that location.

“Another overpass is needed, which goes to the airport, and it would be necessary to fix the whole situation of La Piedad, which is more than a kilometer. But so far they tell us that there is a change, that it is not where it was considered (Los Héroes) and that it goes in Jesús María.”

He also reported that the Railway Transport Regulatory Agency notified the municipality that the station projected for El Marqués would be of smaller scale than initially announced, and that its design is still subject to review.

Monsalvo Castelán reiterated that the information that has been shared with the municipality has been limited and that, so far, there is no definitive executive project, which keeps technical observations open by the municipal government.
