The Governor of the State of Mexico, Delfina Gómez Álvarez, announced that security operations will continue on a permanent basis in the border region between the State of Mexico and Querétaro, with the goal of strengthening surveillance and addressing the risks identified in this area.
She indicated that the President of the Republic will promote joint investment in security between the State of Mexico and Querétaro, due to the high crime rates in the area.
“This is what our President of the Republic is requesting. I believe that something like this will happen soon,” she stated.
She explained that security coordination is not limited to the municipal or state level, but also includes federal agencies, emphasizing that constant meetings are held to maintain a joint strategy between the neighboring states.
“It’s not just at the municipal and state levels, but also at the federal level. Both the National Guard and the Ministry of Defense are participating,” she noted.
The governor explained that, as part of these actions, patrols are being conducted and information is being shared through the C5 command centers. She added that efforts are underway to strengthen security infrastructure, such as cameras and surveillance arches, with the participation of business owners and local authorities.
“The appropriate actions are being taken, such as conducting patrols, utilizing the C5 command centers, and facilitating information sharing,” she stated, emphasizing that these measures are being implemented in coordination among all three levels of government.
When questioned about crimes such as fuel theft, the governor maintained that the strategy is comprehensive and not limited to a single region.
“We don’t have a single priority; it’s a general priority,” she explained, noting that these types of problems also occur in other parts of the country.
