Operation implemented to prevent pirate taxis on the Periférico Ecológico in Puebla

3

On the morning of February 10th, an operation was implemented to prevent unlicensed taxis from operating on the Periférico Ecológico (Ecological Ring Road). Temporary taxi stands began operating there, providing service as instructed by the Ministry of Mobility and Transportation (SMT) due to a shortage of public transportation vehicles that failed their required inspections.

The new taxis were providing the service already familiar to users, and State Police and Highway Patrol officers were present to maintain order in the area.

The new taxis were stationed at the Periférico Ecológico-Valsequillo overpass, a location frequented by unlicensed taxis, offering service for 20 pesos.

Highway Patrol officers were on site to ensure the new taxis adhered to the established fares and routes of the new shared taxis, which are black and yellow.

Despite the discontent of unlicensed taxi drivers who want to return to operating in the area, the security deployment remains in place.

It should be noted that in that area of the city, public transport service was affected by operations to remove from circulation the units that failed to comply with the vehicle inspection.
