XALAPA, VER.- The Ministry of Education of Veracruz (SEV) reported that, on the occasion of the celebration of the Carnival of the Port of Veracruz, educational work will be suspended during the next week in some municipalities of the entity.
According to the official calendar of the SEV, the suspension of activities is scheduled for Monday, February 16, and Tuesday, February 17, 2026; however, the measure will not be generalized, since it will only apply in certain workplaces of the agency.
According to the provisions of Circular No. SEV/OM/0009/2026, issued by the SEV’s Chief Officer’s Office, the suspension of classes and work will be valid only for the workplaces dependent on this secretariat located in the municipalities of Alvarado, Boca del Río, Medellín, Veracruz, and Xalapa.
The document, datedFebruary 5, 2026, was addressed to undersecretaries, general and area directorates, as well as to heads of decentralized agencies and bodies, sub-directorates, general coordinations, regional delegations, and department heads.
The circular specifies that the measure responds exclusively to the celebration of Carnival, so it does not imply a general suspension of activities throughout the state, but only in the indicated localities.
Veracruz Carnival Program 2026
The Veracruz Carnival 2026 will be held from February 10 to 18, with an agenda that combines tradition, massive parades, and massive concerts in the Zócalo de Veracruz and the Macroplaza del Malecón, consolidating itself as one of the most important cultural and tourist events in the state.
The activities will begin on February 10 with the traditionalBurning of Bad Humor, accompanied by a concert by Nelson Kanzela in the Zócalo. On February 11, the coronation of the Children’s Kings will take place, with the presentation of the Picus group. On February 12, the Macroplaza will host the concerts of Havana D’Primera and Lavoe Orchestra Joseph Amado.
On February 13, Carlos Riverwill perform, while on February 14, the first Carnival parade will take place, followed by a concert by Reggaetón Mexa. On February 15, the second parade will be held, with the stellar performance of Christian Nodal, and on February 16, the musical agenda will continue with the concert of the MS Band.
The final stretch of the Carnival will include the fourth parade, scheduled for February 17, accompanied by the concert of Mon Laferte. The festivities will conclude on February 18 with the traditional Burial of Juan Carnaval, closing with the presentation of Chiquito Team Band, in an edition that will bring together thousands of local, national, and international attendees.
