To continue with the policy of order promoted by Mayor Cecilia Patrón Laviada, the City of Mérida, in conjunction with the Ministry of Public Security (SSP Yucatán), has removed just over 100 abandoned cars from various streets of the municipality.

The above was revealed by Carmen González Martín, director of the Governor’s Office of the municipality, who explained that this strategy began last year by the municipality, in order to apply the current regulations on roads that indicate that any vehicle that remains on the street for more than three months without constant movement.

She indicated that this situation considers the car as abandoned, so the authority has the power to remove it from the street, which is why he called on citizens that if they detect a vehicle with these characteristics to report it to 911, and thus be able to initiate a verification procedure to rule out whether it is abandoned or not.
