Where to eat in CDMX? It’s probably the hardest question you can ask yourself, especially since there are thousands of restaurants opening every week. However, there are a couple of spots that have become very charming for their cuisine and for their location inside old mansions that have beautiful terraces and gardens. They are perfect for enjoying food in the middle of nature, among huge trees and plants. They also have a menu that will fascinate you from the first bite.

Magda

Magda is one of the most beautiful restaurants in San Ángel. It is located in what was previously the orchard and garden of the Convent of Carmen, today the Museo del Carmen. The restaurant is literally an art gallery, as there are works on display throughout the spot. It also has an indoor lounge, private lounges, a terrace, and a beautiful outdoor garden, perfect for brunch and candlelit dinners. Its gastronomy is focused oncontemporary Mexican cuisine that prioritizes vegetables and seasonal ingredients. They are also pet-friendly.

Fabia Country Kitchen

Right there, in San Ángel, Fabia Cocina de Campo has become one of the favorite restaurants in the south of Mexico City. It is located in an old house that overlooks La Amargura street, and yes, in addition to its interior living room with huge windows, it has a beautiful garden with a huge tree and bougainvillea. Their cuisine is inspired by the farm-to-table, that is, from the field to your table, since everything they cook is prepared with fresh, seasonal ingredients from local producers and ranches. Try their salads, roasted vegetables, and rib-eye.

Esca

Esca is also another restaurant with terraces and gardens in Mexico City. It is practically a new spot in the capital, as it opened its doors last year, inside an old Porfirian mansion in Roma. The place also has an indoor lounge with an open kitchen and a bar on top. Its cuisine is inspired by Italian and Mediterranean gastronomy that prioritizes seafood, since 70% of its menu is fish and seafood that comes from the Mexican Pacific.

San Angel Inn

Then we have San Ángel Inn, one of the most beautiful restaurants with terraces and gardens in Mexico City. This spot is a classic of classics; it is located in what was previously the Hacienda Goicoechea, and the entire building is listed as a Colonial Monument by the National Institute of Anthropology and History – INAH. It has a main dining room, as well as patios, terraces, and gardens with fountains that are ideal for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Their menu is 100% Mexican cuisine with international touches. Among the must-see dishes are the Aztec soup and the mole poblano.

Botanical

In La Condesa, we have Botánico, a restaurant where flowers and plants are the protagonists. This establishment is located on the ground floor of an old restored Art Deco house, right in a beautiful garden. On the other hand, and with respect to its cuisine, each dish has Mediterranean influences and a contemporary subtlety. They also only use fresh and seasonal ingredients. But what to ask for? Try the grilled shrimprib-eye burger, and salads.

Huset

Huset is another of the restaurants that has the most beautiful terraces and gardens in Mexico City. Well, it is a beautiful courtyard surrounded by vegetation that is located inside an old house in the Roma neighborhood. Its gastronomy is inspired by ‘country cuisine’, that is, its proposal is simple but enhances the flavors of the food. The menu includes pizzas, as well as salads, roasted vegetables, and grilled catch of the day.

Bella Aurora

Finally, we have Bella Aurora, a terrace in the Roma neighborhood. This restaurant is surrounded by plants and vines on the roof that give it a wooded feel and the feeling of being in the middle of nature. The spot is perfect to go to breakfast and enjoy food in peace, or also to go to eat with friends or on a romantic date. During your visit, we suggest you try the fish and seafood or the pasta and pizzas. Of course, don’t forget to accompany it with a delicious cocktail or a glass of wine.
