The Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), Omar García Harfuch, reported that security forces seized a clandestine aircraft transporting drugs in the state of Oaxaca.
Through his social media accounts, García Harfuch detailed that the operation resulted in the seizure of 534 packages of cocaine, weighing over half a ton, equivalent to millions of doses that were allegedly intended for distribution within the country.
The official emphasized that the seizure was the result of the ongoing surveillance of national airspace maintained by the Ministry of National Defense, through the Air Force, in coordination with the National Guard and the Ministry of Security and Citizen Protection.
For its part, the Security Cabinet detailed how the operation unfolded, during which security personnel detected the trajectory of an aircraft conducting an unauthorized flight southeast of Tapachula.
Following the surveillance, the small plane was located landing in the town of Huamúchil, in the municipality of San Dionisio del Mar, where security forces arrived.
After the seizure, the vehicles, the aircraft, and the drugs were turned over to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, which will compile the case file and continue the investigation.
