Hotels in Mazatlán report minimal changes in reservations

Mazatlán’s hotel sector has seen changes in reservations for this weekend, although no mass cancellations have been reported, according to Francisca Cazares Oliveros, president of the Mazatlán National Chamber of Commerce, Services and Tourism.

The business leader explained that, so far, hotels have primarily observed changes in accommodation dates, without significant impacts on hotel occupancy.

Cazares Oliveros stated that she does not know if these reservation adjustments are directly related to the security incidents that occurred last Sunday on federal highways.

“There have been very few cancellations at hotels, and those that have occurred are mostly date changes,” she pointed out.

She acknowledged the uncertainty in Mazatlán and throughout the country following the highway blockades reported over the weekend, a situation that generated concern among travelers.

The president of Canaco Mazatlán noted that most tourists arriving in the port do so by road, either on toll roads or free highways, which could influence visitors’ perception of safety.

However, she reiterated that there haven’t been any widespread cancellations, so the destination is maintaining stable reservation levels.

The business and tourism sector is confident that the situation will normalize and that Mazatlán will continue to be one of the preferred destinations on the Mexican Pacific coast.
