American businessman Wilberto Pérez, cultural promoter and head of the international agency TMF, is visiting Mérida for the inauguration of the Mit Jazz Festival. This institutional visit aims to strengthen cultural and tourism ties between the city and the North American market.

This morning, Pérez was received at the City Hall by Mayor Antonio Rodríguez Osuna. During the meeting, they discussed new avenues for cooperation to integrate the city into the international music and educational tourism circuits that the company operates in Europe.

The mayor emphasized that this contact represents “a strategic opportunity to position Mérida within international cultural itineraries,” highlighting the interest in attracting musical groups, students, and artistic ensembles from American universities and schools. He explained that the goal is for these groups to develop performances and educational experiences in unique historical spaces, thus contributing to strengthening the city’s international profile and increasing overnight stays.

This morning, Wilberto Pérez held a working meeting with Mérida business leaders from the tourism and commercial sectors, a meeting also attended by the municipal delegate for Commerce, Laura Iglesias.

The meeting focused on analyzing the economic opportunities that could arise from attracting international visitors to cultural and musical programs, particularly given the high purchasing power of American tourists.

Pérez noted that Mérida offers exceptional conditions for inclusion in the cultural circuits his company organizes internationally, highlighting its status as a World Heritage City and the unique value of its historic spaces as venues for artistic and educational experiences.

This visit is part of the municipal strategy to promote cultural tourism and diversify international markets, solidifying Mérida as a destination open to new initiatives that combine culture, economic development, and international exposure.
