This week, the Zacatecas government confirmed the opening of this direct air connection with Guadalajara, operated by Volaris. The goal is to strengthen regional mobility and facilitate access to the network of national and international flights offered by the Guadalajara International Airport.
According to state authorities, this route will allow passengers to connect more easily to destinations in the United States and Canada (ideal for the World Cup), as well as to Spain, Colombia, Panama, Costa Rica, and Guatemala.
The route will begin operations on Tuesday, June 2, 2026. It will have three weekly flights: Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
Flights will depart Guadalajara at 3:10 p.m. and arrive in Zacatecas at 4:14 p.m.
In the opposite direction, they will depart at 5:05 p.m. and land at 6:11 p.m.
The flight time will be approximately one hour, a significant reduction compared to the four or five hours it takes to travel by road.
Guadalajara–Zacatecas Flight Price with Volaris
According to a search conducted this Friday, March 27, 2026, by PLAYERS of life, the price of a one-way flight from Guadalajara to Zacatecas starts at 70 Mexican pesos (MXN) for the base fare. However, it is important to consider additional charges, such as the airport fee, which in the example consulted adds 250 pesos, increasing the total cost.
The flight shown is a 3:10 PM departure arriving at 4:14 PM, nonstop, with a flight time of 1 hour and 4 minutes.
As with these types of fares, prices may vary depending on demand, advance purchase, and availability.
The main advantage is time savings. Going from a ground transportation journey of up to five hours to a flight of just over an hour completely changes the travel experience.
In addition, the weekly frequency allows for flexibility for business trips or short breaks, while the connection to Guadalajara Airport expands options for travelers seeking international connections.
The availability of competitive fares is also a key benefit, which could encourage greater passenger traffic between the two cities.
The opening of this route contributes to the growth of the aviation ecosystem in Guadalajara. Volaris has already announced an $18 million investment in a maintenance base at the airport, a project slated for completion in 2027 that will generate approximately 352 jobs.
This positions Guadalajara as a strategic hub for aviation in Mexico, both for commercial operations and for technical development and talent training, with initiatives such as the future Aeronautical University.
