Holy Week 2026 vacations begin in early April. During this season, Mexicans often attend processions, masses, and the traditional Passion of Christ reenactment. Others prefer to visit tourist destinations such as “Pueblos Mágicos” (Magical Towns), forests, or beaches. At AS Mexico, we’re sharing a list of paradisiacal beaches you should visit at least once in your life.
Cozumel Island, Quintana Roo
If you’re looking for a relaxed atmosphere and crystal-clear waters, the best option for your Holy Week vacation is to visit the Mexican Caribbean.
Cozumel Island is one of the best choices. Its turquoise waters will undoubtedly captivate you and make you feel like you’re in another country. One of the most highly recommended places to visit on Cozumel Island, located in Quintana Roo, is Playa El Cielo (Sky Beach), where you can see starfish, dive several kilometers out to sea, and observe different marine species.
Very close to Cozumel, you’ll find Isla Pasión, a private island accessible only by boat. Its waters are crystal clear, the sand is white, and according to Mayan culture, it’s a sacred place. Couples and married couples can visit and ask the goddess Ixchel for fertility.
Around Cozumel Island, you’ll find various private beaches, clubs, and public beaches. At the public beaches, the sea is open, so if you’re with children, it’s advisable not to challenge the waves to avoid accidents. In the afternoon, you can spend a pleasant time with family, friends, or your partner in downtown San Miguel de Cozumel.
Playa del Amor, Nayarit
In the state of Nayarit, you’ll find Playa del Amor, a beautiful place that should definitely be on your list of the best paradises to visit. In 2005, it was declared a National Park and a World Heritage Site. Every year, thousands of national and international tourists visit and enjoy its crystal-clear waters.
Balandra Beach, Baja California Sur
Baja California Sur boasts many beautiful beaches, one of the most popular being Balandra Beach, located in the municipality of La Paz. Its crystal-clear waters create a stunning natural pool with gentle waves, perfect for families with young children.
Chileno Beach, Baja California Sur
Another attractive beach worth visiting in Mexico is Chileno Beach, a bay accessible by boat or car. Its crystal-clear waters, while the waves can be stronger at certain times, generally offer tranquility. It’s also one of Baja California Sur’s best-kept secrets, relatively unknown to most.
Beaches in Oaxaca
The state of Oaxaca offers five different destinations that you shouldn’t miss. Each beach holds hidden wonders, with crystal-clear waters that captivate visitors.
Zicatela Beach is considered the number one surfing spot in all of Mexico. Its waters turn a turquoise blue, and its sand is fine gray.
Mazunte Beach is another popular choice, and it’s also home to the Mexican Turtle Center, a sanctuary dedicated to protecting these endangered species.
Carrizalillo Beach is another option with turquoise waters that captivate visitors. Snorkeling is also popular, and there are areas for RVs. Finally, there’s Zipolite Beach, a world-renowned surfing destination that attracts young people from Europe and North America.
