With the aim of strengthening reforestation efforts and promoting environmental conservation in the border region, the Secretariat of Rural Development, Fisheries, and Aquaculture donated 1,500 native forest trees to the Council of Institutions of Nuevo Laredo.

The donation is part of the strategies implemented by the state agency to expand green areas and contribute to the ecological balance in the region. According to authorities, the selected species were chosen for their ability to adapt to the climate and soil characteristic of northern Tamaulipas.

Among the trees donated were specimens of Rosewood, Loquat, Mesquite, and various types of Oak, species that, in addition to promoting carbon sequestration and shade, contribute to the preservation of the local ecosystem.

State agency officials indicated that this action reflects the vision of the head of the Secretariat of Rural Development, Fisheries, and Aquaculture, Antonio Varela Flores, aimed at promoting projects that will consolidate a more sustainable environment in the border region.

During the handover ceremony, the importance of joint participation between authorities and civil society organizations was highlighted in promoting initiatives that favor environmental protection and the restoration of green spaces in the city.

Participating in the event were the Director of Forestry Development, Celene Ramírez García, and Eduardo Garza García, Head of the Prevention and Conservation Department, who reiterated the institution’s commitment to continue promoting programs focused on sustainable development and the preservation of natural resources in Tamaulipas.

Entre los árboles entregados se encuentran ejemplares de Palo de Rosa, Níspero, Mezquite y distintas variedades de Encino, especies que además de favorecer la captación de carbono y la generación de sombra, contribuyen a la preservación del ecosistema local. Foto:
