Lines at International Bridge II remain under control; increased traffic back to Mexico is expected.

Vehicle lines to cross into the United States via the Juárez-Lincoln International Bridge II in Nuevo Laredo began to increase last Thursday, although traffic flow has remained controlled so far, according to transit authorities, who warned that the return traffic to Mexico could intensify starting next Monday.

The Transit and Road Safety Department confirmed that the increase in traffic coincides with projections made last week due to the influx of Mexican vacationers traveling to Texas during the holiday period.

According to the department’s report, the lines have primarily reached Luis Donaldo Colosio Boulevard and Hidalgo Street, near the traffic light, without extending beyond that point so far. However, wait times to cross into the United States have exceeded two hours in some cases, a situation that could continue at least until Saturday.

The Director of Traffic and Road Safety in this border city, Armando de la Torre, stated that the department maintains a permanent presence of officers in the area to manage traffic and prevent accidents due to the increased flow of vehicles.

“We do have lines of traffic forming; many people are coming from other cities to Laredo and using Colosio Boulevard. We haven’t had any reported incidents, and our officers are constantly on hand to direct and manage traffic,” he explained.

The official urged motorists to drive with caution, respect traffic signs, and be patient during peak traffic periods.

He also reiterated the recommendation to use the automated toll payment card, which allows access to the exclusive lane and electronic payment at the toll booth, thus reducing wait times.

Authorities estimate that the situation could change starting Sunday afternoon and continuing through Monday, when the return of those currently crossing into the United States is expected, which could generate lines in the opposite direction, from Laredo, Texas, towards Nuevo Laredo.
