With a call to maintain unity and seize this historic moment for the state, Governor Esteban Villegas Villarreal swore in the 2026-2028 Board of Directors of the Mexican Chamber of the Construction Industry (CMIC) Durango Chapter, headed by Edgar Iram Ciceña Mejorado, at a ceremony where he was accompanied by Marisol Rosso Rivera and Mayor Toño Ochoa. There, he affirmed that good times are ahead for the state and that public and private works should remain in the hands of Durango-based construction companies.
Esteban Villegas acknowledged that after several years, a unified slate of candidates had been consolidated within the Chamber, representing stability and a shared vision at a crucial stage for development. He thanked outgoing president Francisco Salazar Mendía for keeping the sector strong during the most challenging times, when there were no resources for public works and the financial outlook was unfavorable. He expressed his support for the new president and affirmed that he will be one of the best leaders the CMIC has ever had, as he will have his full support to ensure that projects translate into more jobs and prosperity for Durango.
Villegas Villarreal pointed out that Durango is currently experiencing one of its best periods for growth, with strategic projects underway such as new highways, hospitals, water infrastructure, and works that begin every week in coordination with the municipalities. He emphasized the commitment to ensuring that all this investment remains in Durango’s hands, that suppliers benefit the regions, and that local construction companies are a direct part of this stage of economic expansion that is about to take hold in the state.
For his part, Toño Ochoa reaffirmed that construction is a pillar of the capital’s development, as each project generates employment and improves the quality of life. He noted that the municipality will maintain ongoing coordination with the state and the construction sector to ensure projects are carried out in an orderly and well-planned manner.
The new president of the Durango chapter of the Mexican Chamber of the Construction Industry (CMIC), Iram Ciceña Mejorado, stated that the organization is ready to promote a broad agenda of public and private projects, strengthen training programs, and capitalize on the opportunities the state is experiencing. He reiterated his support for the government and his commitment to working together.
The outgoing president, Salazar Mendía, expressed his gratitude for the support received during his term and emphasized that the coordination allowed for the revitalization of local companies and the recovery of participation in public works projects, strengthening the sector and generating development for Durango.
Also present at the event were Donato Gutiérrez, Executive Coordinator of Strategic Management for the National CMIC, and Ernesto Alanís Herrera, President of the Board of Directors and Political Coordination of the State Congress. The presiding magistrate of the Superior Court of Justice, Manuel Valadez Díaz, the director of the center of the Secretariat of Infrastructure of Communications and Transport José Froylán García, in addition to the head of SECOPE, Ana Rosa Hernández Rentería and Raúl Montelongo, president of the Business Coordinating Council.
