Wrapped in a black bag, the body of a person who had allegedly been involved in a shootout in the streets of the Casas Alemán neighborhood in Gustavo A. Madero was found abandoned.

The body was left on Río de los Remedios, at the intersection with Avenida Gran Canal del Desagüe, in the Nueva Atzacoalco neighborhood. This prompted a large police presence in the area to secure the scene and await forensic investigators from the Mexico City Attorney General’s Office (FGJ-CDMX).

“Damn, it’s awful that they dumped a body down there,” said a woman from the Urban Services Department who was sweeping the area.

Passersby seemed surprised to see the police and media present. Many stopped to get out of their cars to find out what was happening, while others simply asked.

“Hey, what happened? I see several police patrols and I don’t know if it’s safe to be out here,” Alejandro asked. When told about the discovery of a body wrapped in a bag, his face showed shock.

According to reports provided by the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC), a shootout occurred Friday morning on the streets of Casas Alemán.

According to the investigation, two women and two men had an argument at a residence in the Los Olivos neighborhood. Afterward, one of the men left and got into a white vehicle to leave. However, he was shot by the other man, causing him to lose control and crash into a house on San Juan de Aragón Avenue. Officers at the scene took note of the incident, notified the relevant authorities for forensic examinations, and carried out various investigative procedures.

After reviewing surveillance footage and monitoring the suspects’ movements, police learned that they were likely in the El Olivo neighborhood. During a reconnaissance patrol on Puerto Guaymas Street, they observed two women and a man handling an object resembling a pistol.

Taking precautions to rule out any potential criminal activity, the officers approached them and conducted a pat-down search, following standard police procedure. A handgun with three live rounds, 19 doses of what appeared to be marijuana, and several cell phones were seized, leading to their arrest.

At that moment, other individuals present at the location attempted to obstruct the police action and scuffled with the officers, who, with the support of other units, brought the situation under control.

As a result of the above, the women, ages 21 and 23, and the men, ages 64, 50, 42, 37, and 30, were arrested. They were informed of their constitutional rights and, along with the seized items, were turned over to the appropriate Public Prosecutor, who will determine their legal status and continue the investigation.

This violent incident is being investigated by authorities to determine if the body found in Río de los Remedios is related to the crime.

“Police officers from the SSC, in coordination with authorities from the State of Mexico, were notified of a deceased person inside black plastic bags,” authorities reported to La Prensa.

Forensic experts from the FGJ worked diligently to recover the body and transport it to the local morgue to determine the victim’s identity and the exact cause of death.

Authorities in the State of Mexico are collaborating.
In addition, surveillance cameras from the Command, Control, Computing, Communications and Citizen Contact Center (C5) are being reviewed to identify the vehicle or individuals who abandoned the body at that location.

Likewise, authorities in the State of Mexico are collaborating with Mexico City authorities to investigate whether the individuals crossed into the State of Mexico and to locate them, as it is common for criminals to commit their crimes in Mexico City and then cross into the neighboring state.

This area has been reported as a site where, unfortunately, these types of incidents have become recurrent due to the lack of lighting and surveillance in certain sections of the canal.
