The Chiapas government, through its Ministry of Tourism, is seeking to establish a new air route connecting Tuxtla Gutiérrez with the Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA) to improve mobility for the state’s residents.
As part of the Tianguis Turístico de México 2026 (Mexico Tourism Fair), it was announced that the project aims to contribute to the state’s economic development.
Segundo Guillén Gordillo, head of the Chiapas Ministry of Tourism, reported the signing of a letter of intent for the opening of the AIFA–Tuxtla–AIFA air route.
The signing ceremony was held jointly with the CEO of Mexicana de Aviación, Leobardo Ávila Bojórquez.
“The promotion of Chiapas is progressing with key alliances and new opportunities to showcase the state’s rich tourism offerings to the world through a strategic agenda of business meetings and interviews with international media,” the Ministry of Tourism stated.
Establishing a new flight from Chiapas to Mexico City, through AIFA, will improve air connectivity, boost tourism, and contribute to the economic development of Chiapas.
