Three FGR officials are being prosecuted for obstructing investigations in Tamaulipas

Under the shadow of the impunity that is so often denounced, the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) announced the indictment of three of its own officials, accused of allegedly obstructing justice in a case linked to the oil industry.

The defendants, identified as Carlos “N”, Israel “N”, and Juan “N”, face charges of crimes against the administration of justice, after—according to the investigation—they allegedly decided not to pursue criminal charges in a case initiated in Tamaulipas.

The case revolves around the possible theft or alteration of assets belonging to the oil industry, acts that, despite their seriousness, were allegedly not thoroughly investigated. According to the institution itself, the now-indicted officials failed to develop lines of investigation and carry out the necessary actions to clarify what happened, which could constitute a direct breach of their duties.

The judicial decision opens a new front of questions about the internal workings of the FGR, revealing that those who should have been investigating may have contributed to hindering the progress of justice.

In its statement, the Prosecutor’s Office was unequivocal: illegal conduct within the institution will not be tolerated. It affirmed that it will act decisively to guarantee legality and will seek exemplary sanctions should any wrongdoing be proven.

Meanwhile, the three officials will continue their legal proceedings under the guarantees established by law and the principle of presumption of innocence. However, the case exposes a persistent wound: when justice is stalled from within, impunity finds fertile ground.
