The 19-year-old and his accomplices were arrested in Atizapán, following intelligence work and an operation coordinated by the governments of Mexico City and the State of Mexico.
The multiple homicide of a family of four has shaken the municipality of Azcapotzalco. These violent acts have sparked even greater outrage upon the revelation that the perpetrator and mastermind of the crime knew one of the victims, whom he deceived with a youthful relationship to gain entry to her home and take the lives of her parents and sister on April 28 in the Santa María Azcapotzalco neighborhood.
Emiliano “N,” 19, boasted about his firearms on social media and recorded himself firing shots into the air from vehicles, along with posts in which he claimed to be a drug trafficker. This material has been key in implicating the young student in the massacre of the Cejudo Barrios family, who were shot in the head in their own home.
Through his social media, he appeared to be carrying long guns and pistols inside his vehicle, which has raised questions about whether other family members were involved in the crime. While those responsible tried to mislead authorities by leaving a “narco message” attributed to “Los Julios” next to the family’s bodies, initial reports link Emiliano to La Unión Tepito.
The governments of Mexico City and the State of Mexico collaborated through an operation and the use of intelligence to locate Emiliano, who was found at the former Boutique Hotel in the Lomas del Valle area of Atizapán. After being cornered by officers from the Secretariat of Citizen Security and local police, the young man fired at the officers, wounding two; however, they returned fire and took him into custody. His brother, identified as José María “N,” was arrested minutes earlier during a chase along Calzada de los Jinetes, after he was caught trying to flee in one of the luxury SUVs stolen from the deceased family.

Pablo Vázquez Camacho, Mexico City’s Secretary of Public Security, reported that Emiliano was the boyfriend of Valentina, who was 16 years old. This relationship allowed him to gain entry to the home, enabling the rest of his accomplices to commit the multiple murders late at night. During a press conference, Vázquez Camacho acknowledged the swift action of Mexico City and State of Mexico authorities in apprehending the four alleged perpetrators.
Meanwhile, the Cejudo Berrios family members bid them their final farewell at the Gayosso Memorial Park in Naucalpan. This case has been widely publicized on social media due to the alleged discord surrounding the family massacre, after Emiliano took advantage of their supposed relationship to steal vehicles and other valuables from Valentina’s family. However, the investigation continues, led by the Attorney General’s Office of Mexico City, to ensure the case does not go unpunished.
“We know this situation has gone viral, and we recognize the fundamental role of the press in bringing such a painful case to light. We extend our gratitude to all the security personnel and various agencies for their tireless work on this case, as well as to the family’s close friends who have been following their case day after day. We ask for your support so that this crime is not forgotten,” said Valentina’s aunt.
