Police chief of Yaxkukul, Yucatán, found dead; he is believed to have taken his own life

54

The police chief of Yaxkukul, Ramón L., 50, was found dead in a house in the San Roque neighborhood of Motul.

Initial reports indicate that the officer had an argument with his partner and, after being left alone at home, decided to take his own life.

When his partner discovered him, she called 911. Paramedics from the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP) arrived at the property and confirmed that he had no vital signs.

It was reported that the deceased was off-duty and appeared to be intoxicated.

This is the second high-ranking police official to die in less than a month in Yucatán. At the end of April, the Public Security Director of Maxcanú, Jesús Alberto Correa Mena, was found dead on the side of the Opichén-Muna highway.

The high-ranking police officer suffered an accident when he lost control on a curve while driving his motorcycle, causing the vehicle to leave the road, travel through the undergrowth, and crash into a tree.
