The creation of new industrial hubs, the strengthening of logistics infrastructure, and the promotion of strategic sectors marked Tamaulipas’ participation in the fourth edition of the Automotive Industry Supply Summit in Querétaro, where the state presented its strategy to attract investment and strengthen its position within North American supply chains.
During the event, Anabell Flores, Undersecretary of Investment for the Tamaulipas Ministry of Economy, highlighted that the state is currently promoting three strategic industrial development projects, including the Tamaulipas Inland Port in Ciudad Victoria, a complex of more than 1,300 hectares focused on attracting manufacturing and logistics investment.
The official explained that another key focus is strengthening the Port of Altamira, which is positioned as the third most important port in the country in terms of cargo handling. She indicated that this infrastructure has registered growth exceeding 300 percent in the last ten years, which has increased the interest of companies involved in manufacturing, foreign trade, and logistics.
Anabell Flores noted that since October 2022, Tamaulipas has received confirmation of 180 private investment projects. She specified that half correspond to new investments and the rest to expansions of existing companies, an indicator that, she said, reflects the private sector’s confidence in continuing to grow within the state.
In the context of the upcoming review of the USMCA, the Undersecretary stated that Tamaulipas created two new specialized organizations last December: the Tamaulipas Automotive Cluster and the Tamaulipas Electrical and Electronics Cluster. She explained that both aim to strengthen dialogue between industry and authorities to generate proposals geared toward addressing the regulatory and trade challenges of North America.
She detailed that the automotive cluster operates from Matamoros, while the electrical and electronics cluster is based in Reynosa. The intention, she commented, is to consolidate collaborative spaces that allow the industry’s needs to be transformed into strategic projects linked to investment, innovation, and supplier development.
During the Automotive Industry Supply Summit in Querétaro, Tamaulipas also promoted its portfolio of incentives for companies interested in expanding or establishing new operations in Mexico. The state seeks to capitalize on the industrial relocation process and the growth of sectors such as automotive, electronics, and logistics to attract national and international investment.
