The Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT), along with the Federal Roads and Bridges Agency (CAPUFE), announced that maintenance work will continue on the Mexico-Querétaro highway, one of the busiest roads in the country.

According to the official notice issued by CAPUFE, the work will be concentrated at kilometers 47 and 52 of the highway, in both directions, which will cause partial lane closures between May 6 and 11.

Authorities specified that the work will take place from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and advised motorists to plan accordingly to avoid delays.

Mexico-Querétaro: Where will the closures be?

CAPUFE indicated that at kilometer 52, heading towards Mexico City, located approximately one kilometer before the Tepotzotlán Toll Plaza, the following schedule will be implemented:

May 6: closure of the slow lane.

May 7: closure of the center and fast lanes, working one lane at a time.

May 8 and 9: equipment configuration and calibration.

Meanwhile, at kilometer 47, heading towards Querétaro, approximately four kilometers past the Tepotzotlán Toll Plaza, the schedule includes:

May 8: closure of the slow lane.

May 9: closure of the center and fast lanes, working one lane at a time.

May 10 and 11: equipment configuration and calibration. Motorists are urged to plan their travel times ahead of closures on the Mexico-Querétaro Highway
Given the potential disruptions caused by lane reductions, CAPUFE (Federal Roads and Bridges Agency) recommends that drivers plan their travel times accordingly, reduce their speed when approaching construction zones, and consider alternate routes.

They also noted that the work could be rescheduled if weather conditions are unfavorable.

The Mexico-Querétaro highway is one of the busiest roads in the country, as it connects the capital with important industrial and commercial corridors in the Bajío region. Therefore, partial closures often cause significant disruptions, especially during peak traffic hours.

The agency reminded motorists that in case of any issues, they can call the customer service number 074 or consult updated information through CAPUFE’s official social media accounts.

Federal authorities emphasized that the work aims to improve the highway’s operating conditions and safety, and they asked for motorists’ understanding during the maintenance period.
