The Querétaro State Mobility Agency (AMEQ) presented EQROBUS, a new electric transportation system that aims to strengthen mobility in the Historic Center of the capital and expand transportation options for public transport users.

The project is part of the modernization strategy promoted by the state agency and includes the incorporation of new electric buses that will operate primarily in the city center of Querétaro.

According to AMEQ, EQROBUS will consist of a fleet of four electric buses with a capacity of 30 passengers each and another 10 buses with space for 13 passengers each. The goal is to offer a more sustainable, quiet, and accessible service in one of the areas with the highest pedestrian traffic in the state.

During the program’s presentation, AMEQ Director Gerardo Cuanalo affirmed that Querétaro is prepared to move toward more modern and environmentally friendly mobility.

“Today, Querétaro has a transportation system that protects our environment and provides coverage and service to all users. Very important decisions have been made to achieve this goal,” the official stated when presenting the initiative.

In addition to the EQROBUS announcement, authorities also unveiled the revamped QroBici system, which will now feature 350 mechanical bicycles, 250 electric-assist bicycles, and 50 stations distributed throughout the city.

The update also includes the integration of a QroBici module within the Qrobus app, facilitating access to both services from a single digital platform.
