Marcelo Ebrard’s name is once again at the center of controversy on social media after posts circulated claiming that he is being investigated in the United States for an alleged “consular conspiracy” against that country. 😳
But be aware: so far there is NO official public evidence from the FBI confirming these viral accusations. What is happening, however, is significant political tension between Mexico and the United States over security issues, drug trafficking, and the role of Mexican consulates in the U.S.
In recent days, international media reported that Washington will review the activities of Mexican consulates and that U.S. officials have launched new accusations against Mexican politicians linked to organized crime.
Meanwhile, Mayor Claudia Sheinbaum responded by asserting that the accusations of alleged political interference by Mexican consulates in the U.S. are “completely false” and defended national sovereignty.
