The driver of taxi number 1424, belonging to the “Lázaro Cárdenas del Río” union, brutally attacked an elderly motorcycle taxi driver, striking him with a baseball bat in the middle of the street and causing serious leg injuries.

The incident, captured on video, is circulating widely on social media and has sparked outrage.

The footage shows the exact moment the driver of taxi number 1424 gets out of his vehicle and, in the midst of an argument, begins hitting the motorcycle taxi driver with a bat, causing fear among witnesses and motorists who saw the scene.

After the attack, the taxi driver fled the scene and took refuge at his home, where he was followed by colleagues of the assaulted motorcycle taxi driver, who demanded he be held accountable. As of now, there is no official information on whether the man has been arrested by the authorities.

This latest episode of violence, perpetrated by members of the taxi drivers’ union in Playa del Carmen, has once again brought to the forefront the aggressive behavior that repeatedly involves members of the union.
