The crisis in the Valle de Guadalupe can no longer be hidden: a reduction in visitors of at least 50%. A complete abandonment of TOURISM PROMOTION and a total absence of affordable dining options for Baja Californians.
An elitist paradise that has dug its own grave, just like TULUM did: with prices for millionaires and service geared more towards foreigners than Mexicans.
As if this weren’t enough, there are NO affordable or FAMILY-FRIENDLY options. Were it not for the renowned “Cocina de Doña Esthela,” the Valley would be COMPLETELY EMPTY every weekend.
Accommodations more expensive than in Cancún and Michelin-starred restaurants that only 10% of the national population can afford are the nails in the coffin of the most important tourist attraction in Northwest Mexico. Hopefully Miguel Ángel Badiola, Secretary of Tourism for Baja California, will realize that of the 300 million pesos he has available for tourism promotion, not a single cent has been invested in this beautiful land by the sea.
