Hotels and restaurants in Acapulco’s tourist zone have begun to take precautions in anticipation of the influx of motorcyclists for Acamoto 2026.
In the La Condesa bar district, a popular gathering place for motorcycle clubs, some hotels have started installing metal barriers to prevent motorcyclists and their heavy vehicles from entering.
Unlike last year, the large deployment of security personnel and checkpoints on the Autopista del Sol (Highway of the Sun) have resulted in a significant decrease in the number of bikers arriving in the port. While more than 10,000 motorcyclists were expected, only about 1,500 had arrived by midday Friday.
Over the past few hours, security checkpoints have continued to be set up to check vehicle and driver documentation.
Additionally, some drivers have been ticketed for speeding, driving without a helmet, or driving without a license, and their motorcycles have been impounded.
