Two women, unofficially identified as a mother and daughter, were executed and abandoned on the streets of the municipality of Cosoleacaque, in the southern region of the state of Veracruz.
According to available information, the incident occurred sometime between the night of Sunday, May 17, and the early hours of Monday, May 18, when both bodies were thrown from a pickup truck in the area known as Barrio Cuarto.
Both victims of this femicide bore clear signs of torture, in addition to having sustained multiple gunshot wounds; meanwhile, no further information regarding the perpetrators is currently available, and no arrests have been reported.
Eyewitness accounts suggest that the two bodies were thrown from a moving gray pickup truck, which was subsequently found abandoned nearby with its headlights still on.
State police officers and members of the National Guard arrived at the scene, while personnel from Forensic Services recovered the bodies and gathered the necessary evidence to initiate the corresponding criminal investigation file.
It has been reported that both women had been abducted hours prior to the discovery; however, this information has not yet been officially confirmed by authorities from the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) or the Veracruz state government.
Separately, in the rural area of the municipality of Acayucan—also in southern Veracruz—a man approximately 30 years of age was killed, having sustained at least three gunshot wounds to his body.
Local residents were the ones who alerted authorities to the discovery, thereby enabling the initiation of the corresponding investigation to locate the individual responsible for this violent act.
In another violent incident, residents of the Obrera neighborhood in Minatitlán reported a heavy police presence after several people heard multiple gunshots.
