The Carrera Panamericana will return to the state of Veracruz on October 16 and 17, 2026. One of the most important international events in the automotive world will cover approximately 700 kilometers across the state.
At the press conference for the 2026 Carrera Panamericana, Veracruz’s Secretary of Tourism and Culture, Igor Fidel Rojí López, participated, as Veracruz is among the eight states that will take part in the race.
The international motorsport event will officially open on October 14 for its 39th edition, beginning its route in Chiapas and having Veracruz as the second stage, where the competitors will arrive on the night of October 16.
Where Will the Drivers Pass?
They will enter through the southern area of Coatzacoalcos, pass through Los Tuxtlas, and then continue through the Sotavento region to reach the port, where they will be welcomed with a festival and a themed celebration featuring free activities.
The continuation of the second route begins on the morning of Saturday, October 17. The nearly 80 participating vehicles will depart from the Macroplaza on the Veracruz waterfront toward Xalapa, making a 20-minute stop in the capital.
After departing Xalapa, they will pass through Tlapacoyan and continue toward Mexico City for the third stage of the race.
The Highways They Will Travel
Federal Highway 190, also known as the Pan-American Highway, will be used, departing from Tuxtla Gutiérrez toward the Ocozocoautla area. The competitors will also travel along the Ocozocoautla–Las Choapas Highway, subsequently joining the Gulf Coastal Highway (180) south of Veracruz, in the Acayucan/Minatitlán area. The route will continue along this highway, passing near Los Tuxtlas, Alvarado, and Boca del Río.
They will eventually reach Riviera Veracruzana Boulevard/Ávila Camacho Boulevard for the final vehicle transit toward the finish arch located at the Macroplaza on the Malecón in the Port of Veracruz.
The Veracruz route represents 25 percent of the total race, and the arrival of this international event is expected to strengthen the port’s economy and tourism.
Other states the race will visit include Mexico City, Puebla, Querétaro, Guanajuato, San Luis Potosí, and Zacatecas. This edition will be part of the 44 editions held in Mexico, with Veracruz being one of the drivers’ preferred routes.
