For the 2026–2027 ordinary electoral process—which will see the renewal of the State Congress—two new local political parties will be eligible to participate: Bienestar y Justicia Social A.C. and Asociación Veracruzana Antipopulismo A.C.

During a working session held this Friday, the Standing Committee on Prerogatives and Political Parties of the Local Public Electoral Body (OPLE) validated the admissibility of the registration applications submitted by these two civic groups seeking to become political parties. This validation was granted as the groups successfully met the requirements established by electoral law, including the minimum number of affiliates and the requisite number of municipal and state assemblies.

The OPLE General Council must now convene—on a date yet to be determined—to vote on the resolutions proposed by the aforementioned Committee. Should the registrations be approved, both parties will officially commence operations on July 1st. Consequently, the electoral authority will be required to adjust the budget allocated for political prerogatives for the year 2026 in order to guarantee them public funding.

In total, 11 civic groups initiated the process to constitute themselves as local political parties; only two ultimately reached the final stage. It is worth noting that during the review process, both the OPLE and the National Electoral Institute (INE) identified various inconsistencies, all of which were subsequently rectified. Notable among these issues were the registration of deceased individuals, citizens whose political-electoral rights had been suspended due to incarceration following final convictions, individuals already affiliated with other political parties, and meetings that were cancelled due to a lack of quorum.
