It was a pool party. The gunmen were celebrating their boss when the police arrived.

In one of the country houses in the Lomas de Comanjilla subdivision, located on the border between León and Silao, 22 alleged members of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) were arrested.

The reason for the gathering of the alleged hitmen, according to a source close to the investigation who spoke to La Silla Rota, was to celebrate the group’s leader with a pool party. The State Attorney General’s Office identified him as César Arturo, alias “El Tiki,” who has outstanding arrest warrants for various homicides.

Some residents, fearful of the presence of armed men in the neighborhood, reported the situation to the 911 emergency number. An operation was launched involving the State Public Security Forces (FSPE) and members of the Mexican Army, resulting in the arrest of 22 people who have already been formally charged.

The Prosecutor’s Office reported that, during the raid on the property, authorities seized cash and a significant quantity of illicit substances, long and short firearms, magazines and live ammunition of various calibers, as well as two tactical vests and a wooden board bearing the initials of a criminal group.

Our informant added that four women, unconnected to the criminal group, were present as guests at the celebration of the patron saint’s day. They were reportedly celebrating with drugs and alcohol when state agents surprised them, and therefore there was no resistance to the arrests.

The 22 detainees are now in pretrial detention and will remain so until the end of the supplementary investigations, at which time they will receive their sentences.
