Teachers from Section 22 of the National Coordinator of Education Workers (CNTE) demonstrated this Sunday at the main entrance of Primavera Park, the site where the government of Salomón Jara broadcast the Second Accountability Report of Mayor Claudia Sheinbaum. The section’s General Secretary, Yenny Pérez Martínez, emphasized that the CNTE’s demands will not be challenged, and that mobilizations will continue both in the city of Oaxaca and throughout Mexico.

The teachers gathered at the park’s main entrance, where the leader reiterated that two years into Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo’s administration, her campaign promises have not been fulfilled, particularly regarding the repeal of the 2007 ISSSTE law and the 1997 IMSS law, both of which have been a key demand of the CNTE.

“Where did those campaign promises go? Two years later, we haven’t seen the political will to support these two harmful pension laws,” which is why the teachers’ union’s protest will begin this Monday, with all its contingents in Mexico City.

Regarding Section 22, she noted that at the tripartite meeting last Friday, the federal government presented a series of proposals, but these were rejected by the state assembly on Saturday.

She added that at this meeting, which focused on the issue of justice, they demanded the immediate removal of the mayor of San Pablo Villa de Mitla, Esaú López Quero, and the Secretary of Government, Jesús Romero López, whom they held responsible for the armed attack against teachers from the union.

However, she said, there was no response or commitment from state and federal authorities. However, he pointed out that as section 22 they will maintain this demand, even in the case of Romero Lopez he was not allowed to participate in said working group.
