Just as she did with Saúl Monreal in Zacatecas, the national leader of Morena, Ariadna Montiel, blocked the aspirations of Morena Senator Félix Salgado Macedonio to become governor of Guerrero.

According to Reforma’s online edition, the Morena president met with the legislator, who, as the father of Guerrero’s governor, Evelyn Salgado, will not be able to participate in the poll the party will conduct in the coming months to select its candidate for governor.

“I had the great honor of speaking with my national president of Morena, Ariadna Montiel Reyes, whom I recognize as a great woman, with much talent, intelligence, and courage to lead our party,” the senator wrote on his Facebook page.

Last Tuesday, Montiel announced that she would meet with all candidates for elected office in 2027 who, due to the anti-nepotism rule, will not be able to participate in the polls.

“I am very grateful to Saúl for agreeing to withdraw his candidacy for governor of the state of Zacatecas. I will be speaking with some colleagues who have similar proposals. We must acknowledge that these are colleagues who have been fighting alongside us for many years, and we must listen to them, give them an explanation. They understand, because they are members of the movement, they share Morena’s principles, and we must always, always listen to them.

“As President López Obrador said, a problem that is ignored will eventually explode,” the former Secretary of Welfare affirmed.
