At an alleged illegal checkpoint, they tried to confiscate the catch from men who have been toiling away at sea for years and who are part of the living history of the destination.
The locals are furious because they say that while tourism is falling apart, the authorities now prefer to harass the locals instead of fixing the mess they’ve created.
“First they scared away the tourists, and now they want to screw over the fishermen,” say residents who can’t take the abuse anymore.
