The General Council of the Veracruz State Electoral Institute (OPLE Veracruz) approved the registration of two organizations as local political parties, effective July 1, 2026.
These are “Bienestar y Justicia Social, A.C.” (Welfare and Social Justice, A.C.) and “Asociación Veracruzana Antipopulismo, A.C.” (Veracruz Anti-Populism Association, A.C.), the latter linked to Héctor Yunes Landa, former PRI gubernatorial candidate, former federal deputy, and former senator, who recently resigned from the PRI.
Bienestar y Justicia Social scheduled 39 assemblies, of which 28 were held, and 20 met the required number of valid memberships, totaling 20,714.
The organizations also received approval regarding their compliance with campaign finance oversight obligations. The Executive Directorate of Prerogatives and Political Parties reviewed the basic documents and made the necessary requirements to ensure they complied with the corresponding regulations.
This process involved a total of 251 assemblies: 102 district assemblies, 147 municipal assemblies, and the two local constituent assemblies.
Approximately 300 public servants from the various departments of this agency participated in the process, with an average of 5 people deployed per municipal assembly, 16 per district assembly, and 10 for the state assembly. These personnel verified that the organizations had at least 15,823 members, representing 0.26% of the electoral roll of the state of Veracruz, as of April 30, 2024.
These two new political parties will be able to register on July 1, under the names of the Veracruz Antipopulist Party and the Cardenist Party.
Conversely, the electoral body is carrying out the liquidation procedures of the local parties “Todos por Veracruz” and “Fuerza por México Veracruz”.
