Oaxaca’s cultural richness arrives in Mexico City with a new edition of Oaxacate, an event that brings together gastronomy, music, handicrafts, traditions, and the vibrant spirit of Oaxaca in Iztapalapa. From June 19 to June 22, this free event will allow visitors to experience and enjoy one of Mexico’s most important and representative cultures. Admission is open from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
The celebration offers residents of the capital an opportunity to connect with the customs that have shaped Oaxaca’s identity for generations, while also strengthening the bonds of the Oaxacan community living in Mexico City. Since the event coincides with Father’s Day, it also serves as an excellent family outing.
What Will You Find at Oaxacate?
For four days, the Macro Plaza in the Iztapalapa borough will be filled with colors, aromas, and flavors from various regions of Oaxaca.
Visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy a wide range of culinary offerings featuring some of the most representative dishes of Oaxacan cuisine. Traditional products, regional sweets, and beverages that form part of the state’s culinary heritage will also be available.
In addition, artisans and producers will showcase handcrafted works inspired by the traditions of their communities. Textiles, embroidery, alebrijes, ceramics, and other handmade creations will be part of the cultural exhibition.
