A magnitude 4.6 earthquake struck Quintana Roo early Sunday morning, June 21, with its epicenter located 17 kilometers east of Felipe Carrillo Puerto, according to the National Seismological Service (SSN).
The tremor occurred around 3:00 a.m. (Central Mexico Time) and was confirmed by the State Civil Protection Coordination, which activated its follow-up protocols after the report.
Despite its magnitude, the earthquake went virtually unnoticed by the population, and so far, no material damage or injuries have been reported.
However, the noteworthy fact is that this is the third perceptible earthquake in Quintana Roo in less than a month, although this is the first with its epicenter within the state itself.
