Puebla Authorities Search for the Alleged “Atlixcáyotl Highway Shooter” After Multiple Vehicle Attacks
Two months after several incidents were first documented, the Puebla State Attorney General’s Office launched investigations to locate the alleged “Atlixcáyotl Highway Shooter,” who is believed to be responsible for firing at vehicles traveling along this roadway. The investigation follows reports from motorists who discovered bullet impacts on their vehicles while driving through the area.
Attorney General’s Office Conducts Operation on Atlixcáyotl Highway
On Saturday morning, forensic experts, in coordination with State Police officers and municipal law enforcement agencies, carried out investigative operations at various points along the highway. The objective was to collect evidence that could help identify the person or persons responsible and determine the location from which the shots may have been fired.
How Many Complaints Have Been Filed?
According to authorities, there are currently 11 formal complaints from drivers whose vehicles were damaged.
The affected motorists reported hearing gunshots or loud impacts while driving and later discovered perforations in windows, windshields, rear windows, or vehicle body panels, allegedly caused by firearm projectiles.
Investigation Along Atlixcáyotl Highway
Most of the reports have been concentrated along different sections of the Atlixcáyotl Highway, one of Puebla’s main transportation corridors connecting the state capital with the Angelópolis area, San Andrés Cholula, Atlixco, and the residential developments of Lomas de Angelópolis.
In response to growing concern among road users, the Attorney General’s Office deployed specialized personnel to inspect the damaged vehicles, analyze the impacts, and conduct trajectory studies. These investigations aim to determine whether the damage was indeed caused by bullets and to identify the location from which the shots were fired.
The operations included inspections of pedestrian bridges, elevated areas, and other strategic locations near the highway. As a result, partial road closures and lane reductions were implemented for several hours, affecting traffic flow.
The case has generated alarm among residents due to the risk it poses to the thousands of motorists who use this roadway every day. Through social media, users have shared photographs and testimonies documenting the damage to their vehicles, while demanding increased security measures and a full clarification of the events.
As forensic examinations and investigations continue, authorities are pursuing multiple lines of inquiry to determine how the attacks were carried out, identify those responsible, and prevent additional incidents along this heavily traveled roadway in Puebla.
