The “Bolero and Jazz” festival will take place on July 10, 11, and 12.

The head of the Veracruz Ministry of Culture, María Xóchitl Molina González, officially announced the progress in organizing the artistic and cultural events that will be held in the state during the summer, highlighting that for the first time, the city of Xalapa will co-host the season’s music festival.

The “Bolero and Jazz” festival will take place on July 10, 11, and 12, operating in a “mirror” format, meaning that the activities scheduled in the state capital will be replicated in the port city of Veracruz.

Molina González announced that the event will feature more than 100 artists on stage and will pay tribute to great figures of the genre such as Agustín Lara and Armando Manzanero, as well as recognizing the historical contribution of women to the bolero.

The main venues will include Plaza Lerdo and the General Ignacio de la Llave State Theater, which will feature external screens to increase capacity.

Later, the cultural program will move to the emblematic National Children’s and Young Adult Book Fair, whose traditional venue will continue to be the Xalapa Preparatory School, from July 24 to August 2.

The official acknowledged that, due to the success of previous editions, the space has begun to prove insufficient, so logistical strategies are being designed to expand capacity and optimize spaces without losing the traditional venue.

August will close with the Sea Festival, scheduled in the municipality of Coatzacoalcos. The technical team from the Veracruz Ministry of Culture will begin inspections next week at the Hemiciclo a los Niños Héroes (Monument to the Boy Heroes) to adapt the cultural workshops, conferences, and recreational activities aimed at families and young people.

The secretary concluded by extending an open invitation to the public, tourism service providers, and hoteliers to join in promoting and welcoming visitors to these major cultural celebrations in the state.

Veracruz will become, for the first time, the official opening venue for the Central-South-Southeast circuit of the “Teatro a una sola voz” (Theater in a Single Voice) Monologue Festival, which is celebrating its 21st edition, solidifying its position as the most important project for promoting solo theater in Mexico.

This important circuit will be inaugurated with a series of completely free performances taking place from July 1st to 7th at the State Theater, located in the city of Xalapa.

This announcement was made by the head of the department following a video call with Luis Mario Moncada, the National Coordinator of Theater for the National Institute of Fine Arts and Literature.

The official emphasized that this achievement is the result of coordinated collaboration between the federal and state governments to decentralize and strengthen the cultural offerings in the region.

Molina González emphasized the state administration’s commitment to the arts, mentioning that Governor Rocío Nahle García has been attentive to the needs of the state and that culture and the performing arts are key priorities in her administration, providing strong support for theater.

She also expressed that it is a great honor for the people of Veracruz to have their state recognized and to host this festival in such an emblematic venue as the General Ignacio de la Llave State Theater.

With over two decades of history, the national festival features a massive program that includes 21 productions and 147 performances across 20 states, divided into the North, Central, and Central-South-Southeast regions.

The Central-South-Southeast region will tour the states of Veracruz, Puebla, Hidalgo, Mexico City, Quintana Roo, Campeche, and Yucatán.

The festival will present innovative proposals and diverse theatrical languages that invite profound reflection, bringing together prominent companies and creators from across the country.

The participating productions will address highly relevant contemporary human themes such as identity, gender, new masculinities, roots, childhood, migration, memory, resistance, and cultural diversity.

The performances in Veracruz will take place in the iconic Emilio Carballido Hall of the State Theater.

The head of the department extended an invitation to the entire population and the media to join in and enjoy these free events, once again positioning Veracruz as an essential cultural and artistic hub at the national level.
