The Baja California Sur government announced an initial investment of approximately 50 million pesos to carry out a package of paving and road rehabilitation projects in Todos Santos and the community of El Pescadero.

The project includes the construction of a road loop, resurfacing, and improvements to main streets, with the aim of strengthening mobility in one of the state’s fastest-growing tourist areas.

The announcement was made this Wednesday by Governor Víctor Castro Cosío, who stated that the estimated amount could increase as the project plans progress and the specific roads to be improved are defined.

“The investment in Todos Santos will be for a very extensive road loop. I think it should cost us around 50 million pesos for paving, or even more if possible, because we’re going to close some very important streets there in Todos Santos,” the governor declared.

According to the governor, the plan includes the rehabilitation of main streets, the paving of various sections, and the laying of new asphalt on roads that show the most wear. The project will also include a connecting road to improve traffic flow within the community and facilitate the movement of residents, business owners, and visitors.

Castro Cosío stated that the works will be carried out in coordination with the Todos Santos Delegation and ejido representatives, with the goal of defining infrastructure priorities and addressing the needs expressed by the community.

The governor indicated that these actions are part of a strategy to reduce the backlog in urban infrastructure that, he asserted, has accumulated over several years in the southern part of the municipality of La Paz, where tourism and residential growth has increased the demand for better roads and public services.

The announcement comes amid complaints about the condition of the streets.

The investment was announced after residents and business owners in Todos Santos repeatedly expressed their concern about the deteriorating state of the roads. Residents have pointed out the presence of unpaved streets and potholes, while service providers believe that better infrastructure would contribute to improving the image of the Pueblo Mágico (Magic Town) and strengthening tourism, the community’s main economic driver.

Todos Santos has established itself as one of the most important tourist destinations in Baja California Sur, with a growing hotel, restaurant, and real estate sector. This development has increased the demand for urban infrastructure capable of handling the increase in visitors and the local population.

Although the State Government confirmed an estimated investment of 50 million pesos for this package of works, a schedule for implementation and a start date for the work have not yet been announced. Authorities indicated that the project will continue to be refined in conjunction with local agencies before construction begins.
