Authorities found dead a couple who had been missing since June 29 in Escárcega, Campeche.
The bodies were buried in a rural plot of land and, according to preliminary police and prosecutorial reports, are believed to be those of Francisco Rocha Suárez and Edith Ortega Bilbao.
The initial lines of investigation indicate that members of an organized crime group allegedly abducted the couple while they were on their way to work. However, the State Attorney General’s Office has not yet confirmed the motive for the crime or reported any arrests.
After several days of searching, authorities discovered the bodies on Tuesday in a rural property in Escárcega.

The State Attorney General’s Office has opened an investigation to clarify the kidnapping and homicide, identify those responsible, and determine the motive behind the crime.
Married Couple Disappears in Campeche
The victims’ relatives reported the disappearance of Francisco and Edith after losing contact with them. According to the missing persons bulletin, the couple was traveling on an ATV and was last seen between 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. while heading to a ranch located in the La Chiquita neighborhood.
During the search, the couple’s daughters shared a message on social media requesting the intervention of President Claudia Sheinbaum.
“We have not slept. We have not stopped looking for them everywhere, and we have also been victims of threats, extortion, and fraud, and our parents are still missing. We plead with you not to let us become just another statistic, just another investigation file. We do not want to become orphans,” they wrote.
The family also requested assistance from Governor Layda Sansores, Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection Omar García Harfuch, and other authorities to speed up the search efforts.
The daughters also stated that, during those days, they received threats and extortion attempts. However, authorities have not reported whether those incidents are related to the kidnapping and murder of the couple.
