Following the heavy rains that fell in the early morning hours of July 8, 2026, residents reported leaks, damage to streets, and damage to some of the homes that had been delivered just this year as part of the Housing for Well-being program.
🚨The most serious issue, according to residents, is that the complex was built in a low-lying area near natural waterways that regulate rainwater runoff, which is now directly impacting the beneficiaries.
🏠Just a few months ago, Mayor Claudia Sheinbaum visited the Port of Veracruz to inaugurate these homes as part of a project that promised to provide families with property and peace of mind.
😨But today, for many beneficiaries, what should have been a dream come true is turning into a constant source of worry.
🚨 👉While the construction companies that benefited from multi-million dollar contracts have already delivered the projects, it’s the owners of these tiny homes who are now suffering from leaks, flooding, and damage.
😔Because a house shouldn’t just look beautiful on ribbon-cutting day; it should also withstand the first heavy rain.
